The once a month Symphony of Flavors Event brought its own varietal of musical and delicious delights over the weekend. The epic happening signaled the closing of The Monterey Symphony’s 70th Anniversary Spring Season before continuing its programs in October.
The exciting night brought fresh faces, community supporters, fashionistas, and more importantly, new and enthusiastic audiences to the symphony.
On the menu: Ocean Sushi Deli, Craft Artisan Ales, Joyce Vineyards, Andrea Zoppi Prosecco, and Cobblestone Wines. On the stage: Electronic composer, producer, singer, and songwriter Ana Lola Roman with soloist and violist dMARI (Deanna Lynn) performing new and original songs to an eager audience ready to hear fresh sounds. On The Monterey Symphony Program: the elegant, exquisite, and highly acclaimed Anne Akiko Meyers.
This night was particularly special as the symphony highlighted four works from the genre of the capriccio, humorous pieces of music that joyfully celebrate the completion of seventy years of “Great Music Live” in Monterey. Dvořák, Saint-Saëns, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Tchaikovsky were all featured, each displaying the delightful moods and colors of orchestral music.
